Woah! blast from the past! I didn't even know this thing still existed. Amazing the things that pop up when you Google yourself.
So I literally haven't used this things in over 3 years where do I begin on updating? Well I guess to start I now live in Texas. This is a very different place for me in comparison to Florida. First off, the gifting of guns and knives is very popular. Although I haven't been given a gun (as of yet) I have already acquired 4 knives. To add to that, I've learned that it is customary that when you are given a knife you must then give a coin (of any kind, even if it's a penny) in return.
People here also still throw around the word "nigger" a LOT. And surprisingly there are a lot of gays here, even more than Florida which is very surprising. And while in most areas of the US everyone has a dog; here everyone has a horse(s).
The thing I dislike about Texas is that there are only BBQ or TexMex/Mexican restaurants around and it's very difficult to find any variety unless you're in a big city like Houston. I would KILL for some Cuban pork and black beans with yellow rice!
So how did I end up in Texas? Well my friend John who I worked with many years ago at Lennar/US Homes came to me one day and asked me to come work with him... In Colorado! I was hesitant at first because it required me to move out of state, but this has been a Godsend. Not only am I traveling to various states, but the pay is AMAZING! I've literally managed to save $15k in the past 6 months. Not to mention this is a field that unless you know someone, it's hard to get into. I've met some really great people and made lots of network connections. It's allowed me to really work on eliminating my debt and get everything back on track.
This project will finish in April and I'm hoping* that I can take at least a month off before heading to my next project - wherever that may be. I really want to take vacation and go somewhere like the Dominican Republic - but finding someone to go with me is not easy since all my friends are broke. I was able to take a week off in December and fly back to Florida for Christmas which was nice since I hadn't been able to take a trip since I went to South Beach for 4 days in June. Both trips I definitely indulged and spent a LOT of money but it was totally worth it.
So yea, in a nutshell that's where I stand currently.
